Description:
Honolulu: Amfac, Inc. (American Factors, Ltd.), (1949). First Edition. Prints. The prints are Fine, the portfolio they originally came in is lacking. A series of 10 color plates, 18-3/4" x 14-1/2", loose as issued but lacking the portfolio, ready for framing, from paintings by Peter Hurd, with a 4-page folder, 9-1/4" x 14-1/2", containing descriptions of the scenes depicted. Each print is titled in print at the bottom and, though not issued as such, is SIGNED in pencil at the lower right by the artist. Also laid in is a one-page offprint by Frank Fredericks from THE ART DIGEST titled "Peter Hurd Paints Hawaii for Hawaii." The scenes depict events in the history of Hawaii prior to its annexation by the United States. Fairly scarce.

Lubbock, TX: Baker Gallery Press, 1953. Prints. Very minor crease at corners, long but not severe vertical creases in image. Still Near Fine, large image. A color print (26" x 19-1/2"; image size 22-1/2" x 16") from an original painting signed in the image and SIGNED in pencil at the lower right by the artist. Peter Hurd (1904-1984) was raised in Roswell, New Mexico, and returned later in life to New Mexico where he drew inspiration from the landscape. In 1929, Hurd married Andrew Wyeth's sister, Henriette, also an artist. Hurd was best known for his use of egg tempera, a medium he introduced to Wyeth.
