Estes ( June 17, 1919- August 17, 2011 ) was an American psychologist who pioneered the application of mathematics to the study of animal learning and human cognition. He would go on to become a Presidential National Medal of Science winner in 1997 as a selection of President Bill Clinton. George W. Beadle ( Oct. 22, 1903- Jun. 9, 1989 ), along with Edward L. Tatum and J. Lederberg, won the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1958 for their discovery of the role of genes in regulating biochemical events within cells.
