Wigham Richardson attached at front end page, dated 30 March 1889 on his Newcastle on Tyne stationery and adressed to prior owner of the book W.E. Adams. 4 1/2" x 7" note card, single fold with writing on all 4 sides. " I have forwarded your letter to Miss Gatty requesting her to give effect to it. Yes I sent you that volume, but not in your editorial capacity..." ( W.E. Adams, 1832-1906, was editor of the Newcastle Weekly Chronicle). Richardson goes on to talk about his embarrassment at having been given authorial credit for his contribution, particularly "...had I known what Miss G. was going to do, I should have omitted the verse at the end." American Association for the Advancement of Science , 1956. William K. Estes ( June 17, 1919- August 17, 2011 ) was an American psychologist who pioneered the application of mathematics to the study of animal learning and human cognition. He would go on to become a Presidential National Medal of Science winner in 1997 as a selection of President Bill Clinton. George W. Beadle ( Oct. 22, 1903- Jun. 9, 1989 ), along with Edward L. Tatum and J. Lederberg, won the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1958 for their discovery of the role of genes in regulating biochemical events within cells. The certificate is Near Fine, SIGNED BY George W. Beadle as President and by Dael Wolfle as Administrative Secretary. small corner creases.
