From my personal library collection. Vol 1 is a Near Fine copy, the vinyl cover has left sticky residue. From the Foreword: "This book on the general subject of German pistols was prepared in an attempt to fill a need of the arms collector and student for a woek containing the various makes and models of pistols that were procured for the many German organizations during the Hitler era." 223 pp, many photos and specifications of the various arms in both Vols 1 and 2. Volume 3 has photos and details about holsters. Volume 4 is a list of various items issued to different parts of the Reich. Vols 2, and 4 are Fine, no tears, chips, foxing, etc. Volume 3 is Near Fine with three small spots on the outside of the front board. All are Limited Editions with #1276 of 2000, 333, 363, and874 being the numbers of the respective volumes. This is a scarce and hard set to complete, very valuable for serious collectors. From my personal gun collector library, this is a signed and numbered (023) First edition. A plate pasted to the inside of the front endpaper says that "Fifty Four copies of this Author's Edition printing have been leather bound by hand. They are numbered in the Model Room tradition. This book is copy 023." There is some wear to the color of the 5 spine bands and to the corner colors. There are absolutely first rate photographs of these early guns, a few in color but most b/w, but superbly done and crystal clear. If you are a serious student of the 1911 this book belongs in your library. Shipping will cost more than the standard rate due to the size and value of this book. This is a 5 Volume set, actually I don't think a 6th volume was ever complied. The books were published at 3 to 4 year intervals, each standing alone as a work in itself; but it is nice to have all 5 in one place. These books have all been read and used. Volume 4 has a partially torn cover where it joins the spine, and former owner's name stamped inside front cover and someone else's name and phone on back page. I don't find any marks in any of the other volumes. A good sort of general interest set of books for a gun collecting enthusiast, especially if one is interested in learning about weapons you don't see very often here in the US.. When first published, in 1940 (this copy is a Bonanza reprint) I am sure this was the definitive history of the Colt Revolver. It still has a place on your shelf if you are interested in Colt history! From the rear flap of the dust jacket: "The book is in four parts. This book is from my personal library, I bought it while I was collecting these pistols some years ago. I think the Landscape format is much better than the later printing Portrait format as photos are larger. Very Good ++ book with good dust jacket, small tears. AT one time I collected pistols and this book is from my personal reference library. First Edition, # 0152 of 1000 copies, signed by the Author. Here I have both the original "How to load, operate, disassemble, assemble American-Germam-Italian-Japanese-Russian and Other Military Small Arms" in big bold letters on the front cover, and, an excellent copy of that book, reprinted. The reprint is not scarce particularly, but the original is. This is the grandaddy of the Guns of the World series edited by W.H.B. Smith and later by others. Weight and dimensions are approximate. I am selling these two together as I think they are complimentary and that is why I have them both. The larger book shows a little more curling at the corners than the smaller.
