An innovative novel that made quote a spash in both the Soviet Union and the west,

Moscow: Foreign Languages Publishing House. No date. 323pp plus a brief afterward about the author. Set during the turmoil in the Ukraine in 1920.

Moscow: Progress Publishers [1980]. 413pp. Hardcover with badly ripped dust jacket. Three novellas: "The Divvy"by Alexeyev; "In Bold Type" by Borunov; "Battalion Commander" by Sharipov. I believe these date from a period when the Soviet military felt that war fiction was not toeing their preferred line, and so they looked to their own to produce the correct line. One page was not trimmed, and as a result hangs out quite tattered.
