Album of twenty architectural photographs. Quarto sheets in plastic comb binding. Consists of 9 color and 11 black and white photographs, tipped in, some now loose from glue. Various sizes, ranging from 10 X 8 1/4 inches to 8 1/4 X 6 1/2 inches. Some with pen notations, including year, either to margin of photograph or directly to page. On the final page in pencil is written, "Fans Claeys / Luchbac Antwerpen"; possibly this is the name of the photographer. The images document various mid-century buildings, apparently in Belgium. Description:
New York: Oxford University Press, 1978. A near fine copy in pink boards with black lettering. Illustrated jacket with minor rubbing and short edge-tears, else also near fine. A pleasing copy.. First Edition. Quarto. Koolhaas's immensely influential "retroactive manifesto" for Manhattan architecture. The dust jacket image derives from a painting by Madelon Vriesendorp, Koolhaas's wife. In it the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building, their forms softened like a pair of Dalí watches, lie together in bed in apparent post-coital exhaustion while Rockerfeller Center, playing the jealous husband in this surreal architectural drama, emerges from a doorway at stage left and shines his spotlight onto the guilty pair.

Description:
London: Architectural Association, 1985. A few spots of toning and discoloration on some plates, overall near fine, close to fine in printed box. Though amply represented institutionally, scarce in the trade.. First Edition. Large square quarto in box. Contains four works on plates (consisting of nine separate pieces), and an unbound booklet with photographs of twenty-one additional pieces, alongside text by Alvin Boyardsky, Richard George Rogers, and David Dodge Gray. The works on plate utilize a variety of material, including embossed glossy paper, silk screened prints, raised paper sculptures in matte frames, and printed Perspex acrylic. Kisa Kawakami's work straddles architecture and sculpture; his often paper based models bridge the conceptual radicalism of Archigram and other 1960s architectural collectives with the private craft work of traditional Japanese paper arts. The multiples included in this box provide a rare glimpse into the work of an artist little known outside of speculative…
