Porter's Lake, Nova Scotia: Pottersfield Press, 1983. 1st edition, simultaneous paperwraps. A specially signed copy of the author's first book of poetry. The text includes over forty poems by this British born author, who has lived most of his life in Nova Scotia. A respected poet, Sanger is also a distinguished editor and critic, and a noted scholar on the life and work of Elizabeth Bishop. The present offering is in fine, 'as new' condition.

The text of the poem is printed in black ink using 24 pt. Goudy Open type, with a yellow Humpty Dumpty illustration balanced between the poem and the colophon. The limited edition of fifty copies is printed on Lettra stock. Size: 10 inches high x 7 inches wide. A copy of this broadside was selected and acquired by the Smithsonian Museum of American History for their contemporary letterpress collection in the Graphic Arts Department. The present offering is in fine, 'as new' condition.

Minneapolis: Bieler Press, 1986. 1st edition, limited (1/200) numbered and signed, decorated boards, without dust jacket (as issued). A collection of poems, "a dramatized narrative of the devastation unleashed by the great blizzard of January 12, 1888" (from the prospectus, laid in). Signed by Kooser and Pohrt on the colophon page. There was a second issue of this title in paperwraps, published at a later time. Prior owner's neat signature to the FEP, else fine.

New York: Harcourt Brace, 1942. 1st edition, full red cloth, with printed dust jacket. The celebrated author's monumental first book, specially signed by Jarrell in ink on the second FEP. Published in an edition of only 1700 copies (Wright A1), seldom are examples found in bright condition. Typically the inferior paper used for the dust jacket (due to the War years) is dry, brittle, and chipped. The present copy is uncommonly bright and fine, and unique with the author's scarce signature.

Garden City: Doubleday, 1974. 1st edition, full red cloth, with dust jacket. Profusely inscribed to New York City playright Susan Leibowitz on the pastedown and FEP, and signed "Love / Hugh" in blue ink. Red remainder spray to bottom edge, else only minimal wear to this fine copy. Strong jacket notes by James Wright, Adrienne Rich, and W. S. Merwin.
