London: J and R Tonson , 1758. Very good condition matched 2 volume set. Rebound in cloth covered boards with leather spine,5 raised bands and embossed leather labels with gold gilt. The books are tighly bound and square. The corners are sharp, the covers are clean. Volume 1 has a recent bookplate inside the front cover and older bookplate on the front end sheet. There is a name written in cursive at the top of the title page both volumes. There is a notation inside the cover of the first volume stating that volume 2 is lacking plate 8 it is followed by a question mark. I counted 7 plates in the 2 volumes and can see no evidence of a plate being removed. . The body of both of the books appear to be notation free with the exception listed. The book pages are age toned with light to moderate foxing. Please note the listed , albeit minor, defects listed. Priced reasonably given the printing and the minor defects. . Hard Cover. The book has 13 tissue guarded illustrations.(one is 2 page) The illustrations are lavish and ornate. Printed on handmade paper. The book has numerous wood cuts and orange ribbon ties. The book is very well preserved and the interior is in fine condition. . First Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good/No Dust J. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Milano: Fratelli Treves, 1928. This is a stunningly beautiful set of books. I can find no date in the first volume, but the other 3 volumes are dated 1928. This is a 4 volume set. Volume 1 is full leather with beveled boards and 3 raised bands on the spine. Decorative design on front and rear boards. Volume 1 is in very good plus condition and the other volumes are near fine to fine. The book has metal clasps and the leather part of the clasp assembly is present on both books. Volumes 2, 3 and 4 are a smaller format and have red morocco on the spines and part of the board and red morocco on the corners. Volumes 2, 3 and 4 have the title in bright gold gilt lettering on the spine along with a decorative illustration on the spine. Ex library soft cover book housed in a heavy card stock libray binder. With the exception of the usual library notations, stamps, etc the book is in very good condition. The book is well preserved. Marbelized pattern on the book covers and all page edges. The books are tightly bound and square. The books have a book plate inside the front cover of both books. These books are illustrated with steel and wood engravings by Richard Doyle. The books appear to be notation and defect free. This is a very collectible set of books and they will look handsome on a shelf. The book pages are very clean , but I did see some light occasional foxing. . First Edition. Hard Cover. This edition contains a hand colored frontis piece and 6 other hand colored illustrations. The pages are bright with nearly no foxing. This is a very well preserved copy of Swift's first major published work and what is generally accepted as his most famous satire.5 raised bands on the spine with bright gold gilt lettering. 322 pages.
