Dressing the Man: Mastering the Art of Permanent Fashion

Flusser, Alan

NY: Dey St. An Imprint of William Morrow, 2002. (USA) 14th printing. No markings, touch of rubbing to the foot of the spine otherwise Fine (eith the fold put pages in perfect order) in unclipped about Fine dust jacket with small closed tear to head of spine panel; DJ is in mylar sleeve. Boards, 307pp, glossary, colour and B&W photos; line drawings. This is a guide to men's clothing: ehat to wear and how to wear it. The book was published in 2002 but the auidelines seem almost Victorian when compared to what is now shown as acceptable in Men's fashion magazines. There is a whole chapter on ties and other neckwear but I haven't seen a man in a tie outside of an executive office or formal occasion for ages. The chapter on full-dress formal wear seems to hack back to a bygone era. Lots of seemingly arcare sartorial knowledge : does anyone still keep track that there are two ribbons down the sides of formal white-tie trousers but only one ribbon for semi-formal black-tie trousers? Alan J. Flusser is a 1983 Coty Award-winning menswear designer and the best-selling author of Clothes and the Man. He won acclaimed for his designs for the movie, Wall Street, and has become identified with the garments he made for Michael Douglas's character in… that movie. A well-produced heavy book (4.0 JM . Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. 4to - over 9¾" - 12".
