There is about 4 pages with almanac material (tide tables and mean temperatures), but the bulk of the book is devoted to dubious stories and arch jokes gathered under titles like "Horizontaliana" and "Fariboles". Navy cloth, 207pp. Essays on subjects as diverse as "Vineyards of Frnce", :Ulysses", "the vendor of Labels", "Love in Northern Latitudes", etc. Huddleston was a British journalist who made his home in France. Gray cloth, 160pp. Lovely colour photos of perfume bottles and B&W reproductions of illustrations on perfumes from the 18th century. This book has been adapted from the French by Paul Graham and Sarah Graham. The text is in English and provides a fascinating accountof perfume culture in 18th century France. (4.8 JM LVR 206/0. 1st.
