Hardback. , 1 x 2 inch piece missing from head of spine, tail of spine and corners scuffed, strip of paper to rear margin of leather spine discolured and damaged with leather lifting, externally some damage, internally one folding map has two 3 inch tears, otherwis. Octavo (over 7-10 inches tall). , 1236 pages with 24 introductory pages, illustrated with 23 plates including folding and single page maps, one with colour, folding and single page diagrams and plans, including 3 of the Thorneycroft torpedo vessel, there are also various figures in text , half brown calf with marbled paper to sides, gilt title and five raised bands with gilt detail and tolling to spine, green endpapers
