A souvenir program from Pennsylvania's Bicentennial celebration; bw engraving reproduction plates on every other page, with explanations of each tableau. Images of important buildings in and around Philadelphia and texts of important historic documents (Wm. Penn's farewell letter, etc.). With a lot of information about Penn and his beginnings in Pennvsylvania. Truly a historic Pennsylvania document.

As a notorious, substandardly bound edition, this copy appears to have been read, but gently handled. Complete overview of the life of Abraham Lincoln; Preceded by an author's note; Succeeded by author's notes and index. Approximately 11lbs for shipping.

Accompanied the auction of this manuscript (sale LANDSLIDE-2263) held on February 12, 2009. Includes the text of the speech, as well as an essay placing it in its historical context. Very informative!

A tribute to German settlers of Pennsylvania.

Tan paper wraps, held in mylar envelope, 60 pp. Title on cover: An Address delivered in and of the fund for Ball's Equestrian Statue of Washington, 13 May 1859. The text of this speech given by American lawyer, politician, and philanthropist Robert C. Winthrop (1809-1894), at an event that hoped to raise money for erecting an equestrian statue of George Washington in Boston Public Garden. Winthrop covers a lot of ground here, including the topics of the American Revolution and of Washington, but much more than these, of course. The statue, designed by American sculptor Thomas Ball (1819-1911), was finished and installed in 1864.

Tight binding, with no tears but with some very light corner wear, age discoloration, and old damp stains to back and interior (does not at all affect text). Brown paper wraps, stapled, with black lettering and decorative border; 45 pp. A very formal address by Channing, which touches on aspects of science, literature, universality, free trade, the state of society, and much more. Some things never change.

VG but for light discoloration to front page and visible signs at spine of being taken from a larger volume; tight; a few fountain pen marks/corrections in the text and margins. Paper wraps with no cover, bound together but taken from a nonce volume; 17 pp. Collins's views on patriotism in light of the Civil War, being more loyal to the federal government than to his state of Maryland; Maryland and secession, and more.
