A tight and attractive copy of this thick program for the November 13, 1993 Florida State game at Notre Dame Stadium -- with a fine autograph addition: Head coach Lou Holtz (born 1937, College Football Hall of Famer) boldly signs in blue ballpoint the article about himself that begins on page 29, while his coaching assistant and coordinator Tony Yelovich bold yisngs in black fineline his portrait and bio on page 38.

An absolutely superb first edition of this slim but stunning collection of this renowned Arizona painter, illustrator and graphic artist (1909-82) whose vibrant colors and near abstract style here reminds one of LeRoy Neiman. The front flyleaf bears a huge inscription and signature from the author/artist in brown fineline: "To Louella & Joe / ole / De Grazia / Arizona / USA / 1968." An exceptional copy of this uncommon title.

A tight, nice first edition of this history of the famed English steeplechase race, containing Brown's many and superb drawings, limited to 850 copies. Like every Derrydale title, a lovely production.

The renowned Mississippi author (1934-99) waxes poetic in these six personal essays about baseball and basketball; the football novella "The Fumble" also appears here.

Tight, handsome advance review copy of this novel about the world of women's college baseball, set in Alabama -- this copy nicely signed and inscribed by the author in blue fineline on the title page: "For Gregg, / Best, / Nanci Kincaid." Uncommon in this form.

Tight, nice 6th printing of the only book penned by this early Major Leagues pitcher and later college baseball coach (1882-1957). Connie Mack and Grantland Rice each provide brief introductions. Portion of front jacket flap neatly tipped to front flyleaf. Interestingly, front and rear pastedowns each bear ownership signature of William H. Groves, long-time Professor of Physical Education for Men and coach at Eastern Illinois University (1951-1969). Amusingly, on one leaf he lightly pencils a contradiction to Coombs "correct swing of the bat" advice ("The swing of the bat should be level, parallel to the ground"), stating: "no! it should be slightly upward to squarely meet the ball decending [sic] at an angle." Fun copy of an uncommon title -- a volume in the "Prentice-Hall Health and Sports Series.
