Of the total edition of 2000 copies, this example is from the hors-commerce edition of 125 numbered copies, containing a laid-in loose original etching on Japon Impérial, stamped with artist's monogram. The preparatory drawing for this print was done by Matisse in 1932 for the book by Stéphane Mallarmé "Poésies", but it was not selected for the final version of the book. This etching was for the first time printed by the Matisse Atelier in 1987 to accompany 125 copies of this book distributed among contributors and artist's family. Original edition limited in 32 copies, 220 facsimiles of letters, postcards and calligrammes of the love correspondence among Apollinaire and the Countess Louise de Coligny-Chatillon, written between 28 September 1914 and 18 January 1916. This copy is complete with the handwritten and signed justification: "Edition Originale Exemplaire 15/32 P. Callier"
