Title and volume no. on red and black leather spine labels. Spine decorated in gilt. Vol. I: xxii, 334 p.p.; Vol. II: 372 p.p. Edward Nares [1762-1841] was an English historian and author. He was a professor of modern history at Merton College, Oxford. In Heraldric Anomalies, Nares discusses various titles of honour and nobility, lords and ladies, esquires and gentleman, and others. Light wear to boards and outer edges. Small stain to top-edge of first volume. Ownership signature in both volumes on front fly-leaf and front free endpaper. Pages and endpapers lightly foxed. Some sporadic smudges. Otherwise interior clean. A bright copy. Near fine.

Delft: Andries Voorstad, 1713. First Edition. Full-Leather. Good/No Jacket. 18mo. 18mo.Full vellum. Title written on spine. [14], 266p.p., [4] leaves of plates [1 folding] including frontis. Bumped edges, boards slightly warped, some soiling to spine partially affecting the title. Some yellow staining to pages, with pen markings on verso of front free endpaper and fly leaf. Otherwise in good condition. Cornelis van Alkemade was a historian and antiquities collector. He studied law at the University of Leiden, and became a notary in 1680. He contributed works on the history of Rotterdam. Translated from the title, this book is an "introduction to the ceremonial and the ceremonies of burial and heraldry.

Front upper hinge starting. Light foxing. Some roughly cut edges. Otherwise a very good copy. Abraham Newland [1730-1807] was the Bank of England's principal cashier in 1782, a post he held until 1807.
