Original oxblood cloth, bright gilt lettering to cover and spine (stamped a bit off center by the printer),top edge gilt; light wear to lower spine and lower corners of covers; well bound, tight hinges; foxing to end page, frontispieced and title page. Front fly has a floral ink stamp, small. First three pages of chapter one have marginal dots, very tiny and neat (almost as though printed); but otherwise the text is bright clean and unmarked. 338 pages, plus illustration; publisher advertisement in rear.
