Beacon Press, 2020. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Soft cover. New/No Jacket Issued. B&W charts - very few. CONDITION: NEW 2020 Beacon Press trade paperback, first edition, first printing. A few B&W charts throughout. CONTENT: How Americans can take action in their own communities and unite across the political spectrum in pursuit of solutions to climate change. Andreas Karelas has a message we don't often hear: we have all the tools we need to solve the climate crisis and doing so will improve our lives, our economy, and our society. But to engage people in the climate fight, we need stories that are empowering, inclusive, and solutions-oriented, not based in fear. Karelas digs into the latest data on the rapidly falling costs and increased efficiencies of clean energy technologies compared to fossil fuels, looks at the rate of job creation in the clean energy sector, and introduces the reader to the inspiring work of climate heroes on both sides of the aisle-from Republican mayors and governors to… Read More

Description:
Harcourt Brace, 1996. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. New/New. William Noonan. CONDITION: NO PRIORITY PLEASE. UNREAD 1996 Harcourt Brace hardcover (pictorial boards) & dust jacket (in mylar cover), first edition, first printing. This is a magnificent book. The text is in the form of a "chant" almost - powerful and descriptive. The color illustrations by William Noonan accurately portray the seasons, trials of today's Polar Bears in a haunting manner. Problem: the back top DJ corner tip of the flap shows tiny edge wear - no bumped corner, however. This book belongs in a school library, IMHO.

Henry Holt, 2008. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. Ilya Spirin color illustrations. CONDITION: Gently perused on shelf 2008 Henry Holt hardcover (pictorial boards - different from the DJ cover - see my scans) & DJ, first edition, first printing. There are no major problems here: just perused on shelf. Wonderful, endearing color illustrations by Ilya Spirin. Although I've never met one, I love Polar Bears. Also, there is a discussion page on climate control - so if you don't believe in that, this may not be the book for you. CONTENT: Lush, realistic watercolor illustrations, filling each double-page spread, accompany a brief text depicting a year in the life of a female polar bear and her two cubs in the Arctic. As winter approaches, the polar bear digs a nesting den where she will give birth to her cubs, which "are born deaf, blind and almost hairless. Each weighs barely a pound." In March the family leaves the den and the cubs learn survival skills before traveling to the ocean… Read More
