A sound copy. Some foxing to the text but not heavily so. Charles Manly (1795-1871) was a lawyer and was the Governor of North Carolina from 1849-1851. Between 1821 and 1849 he was the secretary and the treasurer of the University of North Carolina. Manly had been a Republican, but when the Whig party formed he switched to that to oppose the Democrats and the policies of Andrew Jackson. On a few pages of this pamphlet he speaks out against Jackson's Indian Policy.
