Nashville, Tenn.: Publishing House of the M. E. Church, South, 1888. Hardcover. Good. 16mo. 224 pages. Hardcover bound in brown cloth. The binding is worn and soiled but sound. Some stains on the spine, and the corners are bumped. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. There is pencil scribbling on the title page which appears to be dated 1874, although the book is dated 1888. Text shows some foxing.

Williamsburg, VA: The Editor, 1903. Hardcover. Poor. Octavo. 763 pages. Hardcover in burgundy cloth. The binding is rubbed and worn with corners bumped. Some of the cloth is wrinkled. Upper edges of boards and text block have been damped. Corners are bumped. Fore-edge of text block has been marked up with pencil drawings. Front gutter is completely broken. Front flyleaf has been removed. Rear pastedown and flyleaf have pencil marks across them. Looks like a child's drawings. LACKS the leaf for page 315-316 (likely a portrait). Page 317-318 is detached from the text block but has been placed in the correct place within the book. There are some pencil marks in the book, including across some of the illustrations and there is some damping at the top margin of the text block.

Front board has a slight gouge mark in lower right corner. Bookplate for Lewis F. Rowland's Library is affixed to front pastedown. Various writings of the name are on both the front flyleaf and the pastedown. Text is foxed. .

Greensboro, NC: The McCulloch Press. First Edition First Printing . Soft cover. Good. 8vo. 32 pages. Soft cover bound in yellow stapled wrappers. Rubbing and wear to the binding, which is dust-stained and darkened about the edges, which also show some spotting. An address is written in pencil on the front cover, and a prior owner's name is written in ink on the title page. A sound copy. Text is toned but generally clean. The booklet contains words only and no scored music. Laid in loosely is pamphlet for a revival at the Central Church of the Nazarene on Lee Street in Greensboro. No date; the book appears to be 1940s and the pamphlet appears to be 1950s or 1960s.

The binding shows moderate wear and has some pale spotting to the cloth. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. Some silverfishing to the rear pastedown Inscribed on the front pastedown, "R. G. Cherry, Secretary (or 'Sec & Tres'?) / Trinity College / Historical Society / Durham NC 1912." R. Gregg Cherry (1891-1957) was the 61st Governor of North Carolina (1945-1949) during WWII. He was a lawyer and had been the mayor of Gastonia and had earned his Bachelor's degree in law from Trinity College, now Duke University. Brantley York (1805-1891) was the Methodist minister who founded the institution which would become Trinity College and Duke. Curiously, this volume was signed by the future Governor of N.C. who was born the same year that Rev. York died.

Spine has a small hole .5 inch wide by .75 inches long where the paper has come away. Prior owner's name on front flyleaf. Rear flyleaf has some insect damage. There is dampstaining on the lower corners of some of the pages. Text is toned but sound.

The binding is worn and bumped but sound. Chipping to the spine ends. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. Text is toned but generally clean. Joseph John Gurney (1788-1847) was a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in England. During his visit to America in the late 1830s to preach against slavery, he objected to some Quakers who focused on inner light rather than the teachings of Jesus, and this led to a schism among American Quakers over that topic.

A collection poetry by a North Carolina author. Douglass (1875-1940) was born in Cumnock, Lee County, NC. He was a Baptist preacher.
