Description:
N. P.: Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Co. , 1945. Soft cover. Fair. Quarto. 50, 75, 28 pages. Softcover in green wrappers. The binding is foxed and toned and has bends at corners and a pencilled notation on front cover. There is a hole in the upper left corner of the binding, where people used to secure the book to a desk with a string or hang it on a nail. The front cover has partially detached from the binding near the headcap. Text is toned but sound. The leaf for pages 29-30 has a jagged tear down the middle about halfway down the page from the top edge. On page 29, this tear runs right down the left side of an advertisement for "Brown's Funeral Directors 'Colored' Serving the Community Faithfully since 1886." This funeral home is still in business at the same address, 918 on East Market St. Contains numerous local advertisements at the rear. A scarce WWII wartime telephone directory. Some of the statements in the advertisements and phone company are…

Concord, North Carolina: Published by the War Records Collection Committee and Sponsored by Cabarrus County, 1947. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. 4to. 430, (2) pages. Hardcover bound in blue cloth. Moderate wear to the binding. The edges of the spine show heavier rubbing. A sound copy with secure hinges and clean text. There are some color illustrations of insignia at the front and some black and white photos, mostly portraits of soldiers. This is NOT a textual or narrative history. It is more of a listing of soldiers from Cabarrus County, North Carolina, living and dead, who served in the wars. The most detail is from WWII and WWI, and the bulk of the photos are of soldiers who died in WWII. The details of the soldiers becomes thinner for those in the earlier conflicts.
