Two Congdon brothers have put their names & addresses in 6 places inside front & ear covers, with one other name, all from Elmira, NY. "Congdom" neatly pencilled on the otherwise blank spine. Book's rear cover with a baseball with Ruth's name matched by "Joe Congdon". The Congdon's seemed to have liked this book. .

Gilt dotted spine ribs. 2nd & 3rd panels with gilt lettered author/title info. Flawless but for bit of wear on the four tips. COMES WITH a separate copy of another paperback. This, obviously, not rebound. In NEAR FINE condition. Flawless but for rubbed extrems. .

Publisher's full name was "Bibliotheque universelle des sciences, belle-lettres et arts". He became its head in 1836. Book is cited on p.241 (shown on PIX 5) of Soret's 1877 "AUGUSTE DE LE RIVE Notice Biographique". The book is a survey of the knowledge of electricity up to 1833. Rive wrote another comprehensive survey in the 1850s titled "Traite d'electricite theorique et appliquee" It's as widely known as "Esquisse Historique" is not.
