Massachusetts: Dept of Massachusetts, G.A.R., 1873. Original manuscript. Good. One page, docketed on verso. At time of application, Thomas states that he is 33 years old and occupied as a painter. He was born in Freeport, Maine, and now resides at West Amesbury, Mass. He enlisted Oct. 23, 1861 as a Private, and was discharged with the same rank on 31 Dec 1861 at Madisonville, Louisiana, where he reenlisted. He was finally discharged at Savannah, Georgia on 18 April 1866, and states that he had never been wounded. His application was approved by the three members of the Committee, and he was mustered into the G.A.R. on 14 May 1873. Original fold marks; archival repair on verso. 14" x 8.5" Signed by Alanson St.C. Currier, a veteran of the 40th Massachusetts Infantry.
