American Book Company. Good with no dust jacket. 1906. Hardcover. Good hardcover and no dust jacket. Moderate shelf and reading wear to edges and corners of covers and spine. Some of the pages have been torn along the edges, but no pages are missing and binding is tight. Pencil and crayon scribbles on end papers, table of contents page torn in half and general wear to pages. Has definitely been used by children, but still an attractive and interesting title. Preface states "these fables have been selected, adapted and arranged from the folklore of the Negro race. Twenty of them were drawn entirely from African sources and the other fourteen from American." Addams the master NEW YORKER cartoonist and black - humor prankster has transformed those endearing Mother Goose characters into gleefully wicked and outrageous beings. The cover is bright and clear, no fading. Corners of the covers are worn, the top of the spine has a 1/2" tear. The hinges are beginning to pull away from the pages. The inside pages are in perfect shape - no tears, smudges or markings of any kind. This is a side of Mother Goose worth saving. ; 11.95 x 8.95 x 0.25 inches .

Truly wonderful engraving illustrations of children & family scenes to accompany stories and poems. Victorian type color pictorial cover, unfortunately in very worn condition, spine is nearly disintegrated and some pages are consequently loose. Page edges have some soiling, and one stain or burn, pages have foxing/tanning, but otherwise clean text and illustrations for age. Book is protected in a mylar bag. Elfriede Abbe. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1954. Limited Edition. Hardcover. A numbered, hand printed first edition printed and illustrated by Elfriede Abbe. This copy is #68 of 90. The paper is handmade Japanese Kochi paper. The illustrations mostly wood block engravings, with two zinc plates. One large foldout. Oversized half green cloth with green paper boards. Minor edgewear and bumped corners. Text very clean, an erased name on a free end paper. A beautiful book. ; 11.90 x 8.55 x 1.75 inches; Elfriede Abbe enjoys a lifetime of artistic recognition and achievement. A graduate of Cornell University in 1940, Abbe has worked as sculptor, wood engraver and botanical illustrator, and has published numerous hand-printed books on a manual press that still takes up the better part of her home studio. Her wood engravings are in collections including the libraries of Cornell University, Yale University and Carnegie-Mellon University .

The Jones Brothers Publishing Company. Good. 1910. Paperback. 72 volume set. Serial magazines of US History. Good paperbacks with clean pages. Some of the bindings have pulled free from covers but most are in tact. Notable illustrations done by many illustrators and some may be missing. Volume 72 has the most wear to edges of covers and the cover has pulled completely free from the binding. This set may be costly to ship as it weighs approx. 25 pounds (including shipping materials). New York: The Saalfield Publishing Co. Good with no dust jacket. 1904. Second Edition. Hard Back. Illustrated with colored plates and thousand engravings. Volume 4 is on birds, gorgeous plates. Significant and ugly water stains to bottom 3" of front and back covers, but text block is fortunately not damaged. Page ends have some soiling. Heavy volume will require extra postage; 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall .

New York: Scholastic Book Services. Good. 1968. First Edition. Paperback. Good paperback. Clean pages; some foxing and fading of inside wraps; front wrap has a crease at center to bottom. Great illustrations. Minimal edge wear. ; 5.95 x 8.10 x 0.10 inches .

Harper & Brothers. Good+ with no dust jacket. 1936. Hardcover. Harper & Bros. Printed the first american copy of this book in 1936, though this one states printed in Great Britain, I believe it is the 1936 edition. Scarce title in Faber & Faber edition or this Harper edition. This copy does have edgewear especially at the spine and both top and bottom of spine are chipped. Some minor scuffs show up on the pictorial covers. The text though is clean with just a few foxing spots and minor tanning, and the wonderful illustrations are bright. No DJ. Author is grandson of Charles Darwin, and primarily a golf writer. He died in 1961. His wife, Elinor was an Irish engraver and portrait painter. ; 7.70 x 9.75 x 0.50 inches .

No Dustjacket as issued, a silver slipcase is in good condition only. Numerous crisp, beautiful wood cut engravings throughout text by Tranquillo Marangoni. Garden City. Good with no dust jacket. 1947. First Edition. Hardcover. Ex library hardcover with NO DJ. Library binding and multiple stamps, otherwise relatively few library markings. Covers are mildly soiled with bumped corners and a pencil B on cover. Sturdy library binding is still strong however. Wonderful, colorful pen and watercolor illustrations by noted watercolorist Millard throughout. Color (pastels? ) and black and white illustrations throughout, charming! Some fingerprints and smudges in text, one page with corner ripped, sticky residue on last few pages, shelfwear to boards. Pasted on cover illustration, bright. DJ is uncut, however has significant tears and chips, wear and fading. Now protected in mylar. ; Ex-Library; 9.50 X 8.25 x 0.50 inches .

Story incorporates copper lace making and images. ; 9.30 X 11.70 x 0.30 inches; Signed by One Author .

London: George Routledge and Sons. Poor with no dust jacket. Hard Back. Shakespeare complete in one volume, with a new portrait and 511 illustrations by Sir Gilbert. Hinges broken and binding completely loose. Minor foxing. Several pages detached. Ends at page 674, so one sonnet and end papers missing. Balance of pages are clean and in decent condition. Pictorial boards, significantly worn. Wonderful illustrations make up for condition overall. Oversized book will probably require extra postage.; 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall .
