Description:
This book is in good condition. There is significant wear on the front, back, spine and edges of the cover boards. The corners are also bumped. The gilding on the spine is rubbed and faded. The previous owners name is written on the inside of the front cover board and his seal is stamped on the first end page and the first title page. The pages are yellowed and tanned. There are some markings on the pages, but it still is definitely a good read. "This volume gathers together a number of articles written and papers read at various times on the transmission of the Bible. It is intended for non-specialists like those who have read them or heard them in their earlier forms, and who have frequently expressed a desire to have them in this form...." - Preface from The Books And The Parchments: Some Chapters On The Transmission Of The Bible

"This book introduces one of the worlds religions in today's United States of America. Most, though not all, Americans say they are religious, and the world's religions flourish in today's America. And God most of us Americans really do trust. But each does so in their own special way, and that is what makes religion in America interesting. Religion is a native category for Americans, as the First Amendment makes explicit; and to understand America, we have to understand religion. What is at stake in the study of it any particular religion in this country is their understanding of what happens to religion in America, and what we learned about America from how we practice our various religions here.. and to understand America, we have to understand religion. What is at stake in the study of any particular religion in this country is… Read More
