H. Rhodes, London, 1701, first English edition, translated from the French, pp. xl, [4], 266, [26]. With 4 small plates on two leaves, plus the very large fold-out plate. Attractive contemporary panelled calf, neatly rebacked with a fully gilt spine. Paper generally foxed and browned, small plates a little frayed at the fore-margins, large plate (which is frequently missing or defective) with old repaired tears and some staining, but complete. Includes a chapter on whether the use of tobacco shortens life. In spite of the browning a very sound copy. Please enquire for further details.

The Latin text of Rome 1745 with translation and notes by Wilmer Cave Wright. A landmark in the history of cardiology and the first complete translation.

Liverpool University Press,1922, pp.142, with 4 illustrations. Original cloth with paper label. Name and small label inside,some slight foxing,but a good copy. Includes reprints of White's writings on puerperal fever.

Richard Taylor, London, 1832, pp. 12. Offprint from the Philosophical Magazine and Annals, 1832. Original wrappers, rather rubbed and dusty and separated from the stitching, but still in sound condition. Front wrapper with inscription from the author to Jas Heywood and by him given to B. H. Bright. Henry was a prominent chemist and doctor in Manchester, and developed Henry's Law relating to the absorption of gases by water. He shot himself in 1836 in Pendlebury.

London, Printed for the Author, 1788, second edition, revised, with considerable additions, 8vo, pp. xv, (5), 98. Neat modern half calf with marbled boards, very short tear in fore-margin of title, and repair to lower corner, also 3 or 4 tiny ink spots, else a clean, sound copy. A printing error on page v of the Preface has made half of three lines very faint, but only one is more or less illegible.

There is a clean repaired tear to the margin of page 108 in part 2, but this a very clean, sound, attractive copy. Inscription at top of title-page from Wm Chapman to John Chapman 1775.
