Cambridge: Leavitt and Peirce, 1958. First Edition. First Edition, this being the uncommon hardcover variant. A series of recollections about Leavitt and Peirce, a tobacco shop and gathering place for Harvard men, published on the 75th anniversary of the shop. An early appearance by John Updike, who contributes his essay, "The Old Tobacconist." Fine but for a single chip to the inner front hinge, in a Near Fine tissue jacket with just a bit of chipping at the spine ends.

New York: Lincoln MacVeagh / The Dial Press, 1924. First Edition. First Edition. 16mo., sextodecimo. Copy belonging to Scofield Thayer, notable poet, publisher, and art collector, with his bookplate on the front pastedown. Thayer was publisher and editor of the American literary, political, and art magazine, "The Dial," from 1920 to 1929, his health deteriorating and the magazine eventually folding. The magazine published several notable authors, including E. E. Cummings, T. S. Eliot, Sherwood Anderson, and Ezra Pound. Contains "Inspector Bucket," by Charles Dickens, "Sergeant Cuff," by Wilkie Collins, and "Monsieur Lecoq, Master-Mind," by Emile Gaboriau. The second volume in the "Great Detective Stories" series, comprised of three volumes. The series is uncommon, and to find editions in dust jackets is exceedingly difficult. Near Fine in a Very Good plus dust jacket. Spine ends lightly bumped. Jacket spine and folds faded, with light rubbing, and a few small closed tears and a tiny chip.
