Wraparound jacket art by Elmer Hader, whose work graced four Steinbeck titles. Steinbeck's Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, literature's lasting testament to the Great Depression, singled-out in his citation for the Nobel Prize decades later. Basis for the 1940 John Ford film starring Henry Fonda as Tom Joad. Ford and supporting actress Jane Darwell won Academy Awards for their work. Near Fine in a bright, Near Fine dust jacket. Small tap on the top edge of the rear board. Jacket is lightly toned along the top edges of the flaps and spine, with a touch of rubbing on the flap folds and two tiny chips on the crown. The trilogy is the story of Kristin, a Norwegian living during the Middle Ages, the daughter of an affluent father, who, in difficult times, often found solace in her Catholicism. The popularity, as well as its accurate descriptions of Medieval life led to Undset being awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1928. Set in Norway. Green titled wrappers. Title page present, with credits for author Sigrid Undset, and screenwriter Laurence W. Beilenson. 139 leaves, with last page of text numbered 137. Mechanical duplication. N.p.: Theater-Verlag Kurt Desch, 1976. Draft script for the 1976 German play. Text in German. The first known dramatic production of Nobel Prize-winning Norwegian writer Knut Hamsun's 1892 novel "Mysterier," premiering at Oslo's National Theater in the summer of 1976. Whether the stage adaptation was done by Hamsun or another unnamed party is not clear. The novel was adapted a few years later into a Dutch film called "Mysteries" in 1978, starring Sylvia Kristel and Rutger Hauer. An itinerant stranger arrives in a small Norwegian coastal town and confuses the bourgeois locals with his strange behavior and spirited talk. Blue titled Theater-Verlag Kurt Desch wrappers, with credits for novelist Knut Hamsun. Title page present, with credits for novelist Knut Hamsun. 104 leaves, with last page of text numbered 101. Xerographic duplication, rectos only. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, with light soil and creasing at the binding, side stapled.
