Three sections: linguistic notes upon the Apache language; 1105 vocabulary items; and biographical notes about John Gregory Bourke. Also an index. Bourke transferred in 1870 to Camp Grant in Arizona to fight against the Apaches. After befriending some of the Apaches he began a linguistic study which grew to a life-long concern for their culture. Rear cover shows a bit of light rubbing, gift inscription on first blank page.
