Photographs throughout of African people, landscape, and wildlife. Signed by the editor on the title page. This expedition was organized in the hope of collecting all kinds of mammals before game herds became too depleted. Gromme, a contributing author, was a taxidermist on this expedition. He would later work as curator of birds and mammals at the Milwaukee Public Museum. During his career Gromme received acclaim as the dean of U.S. wildlife art and as a prominent and effective wildlife conservationist. Covers show just a bit of wear at the corners.
