Almost qualifies as miniature. Red cloth boards with ornate gold detail and lettering. Front gold is partially worn off. Spine more and if rear board had gold only designs remain. Back board lower corner has red cloth rubbed off 3/4 inch in each direction and cardboard is layered. Minor spine end fray. Boards have soilage. Front hinge is somewhat cracked and title page has hinge damage. Book is tight and, allowing for inside cover smudgies and general page browning, clean. AEG. ; Miniature; 2 1/4 x 3 1/8; 104 pages .

Front cover has 2 very small stains that are hard to see. Also a bunch of tiny black dots near spine. Also spine has 2 itst-bitsy nibble holes by title. Once nibble takes away part of the Y in title. Spine ends have normal creasing/bumping. Other cover corners also have teeny bump/rub. Gold lettering on front cover states author's name and Painted Post NY the town he lived in. This book may have been the author's personal copy. Endpapers are dark brown. Rear endpapers each have a teeny nick at bottom edge. Text is clean/tight however there are a few very pale brown lines on some pages. The story of a youg boy who gives his life to take care of a ship full of sick sailors and finally loses his own to the fever. Heavy cardboard marbled green covers with red spine. Gold title can still be seen on spine. All cover edges have been worn down to the cardboard. Text is loose but still held together by hand sewed cotton. Quite a bitof page browning throughout. Inside front cover is a paper paste-up measuring 2 1/2 x 4 1/2. States it is number 73 from the Trumball Corners library of the Methodist Episcopal Sunday School for Sundey School. Nice gold title and author's name also on front, rear cover and spine are blank. Very minor cover usage showing. Teeny bit of corner and spine end open wear. Back cover does have a few small ripples in the cloth, front hinge is cracked open almost all of the way causing a few pages to become completely separated. And the rest of the text somewhat shaky.
