In the original blind-stamped (decorated) brown cloth boards with bright gilt titling 'Book of Fishes' to the front board. Boards are a little patchily faded/marked but tight and sound and the book looks good. Printed by Harrison and Co. , London. The page fore-edges are slightly browned and there is some very light foxing, a few marks and some inky 'Thumbing', but overall the book is pretty clean, thight and bright. With printed pictorial beige paper boards, titled in brown. Some light marks to the paper covers but the tips of the corners are bumped/scraped/creased - very thin board. However overall the book looks near VG. Page fore-edges - front and bottom - are 'rough-cut', but the top edge is trimmed - all edges lightly toned and 'dusty'. Internally a note in ink on the front pastedown stating "From the Cleave Family the owners of the Trevanion Culverhay". No Date shown, but Dr. Barnardo, a medical doctor whose mission was to help those in poverty, supported his philanthropic practice by editing & publishing children’s periodicals between 1874 & his death in 1905.
