The First Edition of the Original book was published in English 1928, Disney released the famous film in 1942 - so I would imagine this was released some years later attempting to ride on the fame of the film? ? . London: Strand Publications. Good+ with no dust jacket. 1945. Presumed First UK Edition. Hardcover. In the original publisher's pictorial paper covered boards. The cover design is 'The Golden Fleece is Borne Away'. The paper is rubbed and scraped along the edges and at the top and bottom of the spine, a light but 'wiggly' crease line runs down the spine, and the tips of each corner are rubbed through to the board, but the covers are tight and sound and generally pretty good. (see Images). NO Inscriptions or Marks. No date shown in the book, but research gives the date as c. 1945. The 5 lovely full colour Pop-Ups are undamaged apart from tears to a couple of 'tags'. In the original publisher's glossy red pictorial laminated boards with coloured illustrations to both covers. No dustjacket as issued. The boards are overall VG. The clear laminate is lifting/splitting along the spine hinge fold. Some light wear/repair to the spine at either end, with a small nick to the left hand side, but no loss. Overall the boards are Very Good, Bright and Tight. There is NO Date given but this has to be late 50s possibly even early 60s - This 'pop-up' title was first published by Sampson Low, Marston in 1954 with a plastic spiral spine. In this reissue the publisher is Purnell & Sons, but no date shown in the publishing detail on foot ofthe last page. As a reissue this is likely the first in this new form? This is, in effect, a double page booklet with a single pop-up inside with the 'Old King Cole was a Merry Old Soul..." Verse to the foot of the pop-up. Delightful illustrations by Geraldine Clyne. Copyright 1953 and a US and Canadian Patent numbers noted on the bottom edge of both covers. The covers open up to a pop-up of Old King Cole sitting on his throne in a palace room setting with musicians. The covers are in fine condition - clean and crisp. The pop-up scene is intact and all standing sharp where placed. There is only one pop-up. In full colour except for the background of the black printed verse. Charming! The pages are very clean, and there is only a very little wear/light creasing from storage, to the corners and lightly at very edges of the front and rear cover. The spine is a little scuffed. Internally FINE. A lovely copy of a vintage publication for children to make up a Peep show 'Theatre'. A GOOD ONLY copy in the Original blue cloth-backed spine with black titling, and pictorial paper-covered boards. The Front cover illustrated in full colour. Very Small Chunky Quarto = 9" tall. A Sound copy with all hinges tight but the boards are lightly dust-soiled/worn with age, and very scuffed / EDGE-Worn in places with some heavier wear/paper loss to the four corners. The blue cloth has faded slightly, with some 'waving' of the cloth, and 'pushing' to the head/tail of the spine from storage, but the black titling is still deep and clear. The Publisher's device on the back cover = Tuck's 'The Storyland Treasury' series. The page fore-edges are lightly toned with age and have some light tan spots (pale foxing). The Norwegian Pop-Up Version of Kubasta's 'Snow White'. With the usual delightful paper engineering and design/Illustration by Voitech Kubasta, and with his printed initials on the front cover and fuller name printed on the last page. In the original pictorial stiff card boards with a light blue cloth spine, some 'rubbing' to the cloth but no tears or frays - sound and complete. Tips of the card covers are a little creased/rubbed. The cover depicts Snow White and the Dwarfs, Front board has a movable which alternates between the dwarfs in celebration (with Snow White present) and mourning (with Snow White missing in the magic Mirror). Model - unconstructed/untouched - showing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, with the story on half sized paper pages (lightly browning to the edges) between the centre fold, and with instructions and diagram for assembling the model at the end.
