Original simili vellum, gilt decorated. ¶ Facsimile (Gent, Christian de Backer, 1977) of the edition Kaschau, 1732 with an introduction by R. Fundárek.--(Opera Pharmaceutica Rariora, vol. XVII). Not in Volckringer.

Leiden,: A. & J. Honkoop,, 1804.. 40 pp. 8vo (13,5 x 22 cm.). Modern blind blue wrappers with new end-papers, uncut. ¶ First and only Dutch transalation. Bouillon-Lagrange, author of several classic works on pharmacology, wrote this paper following the publication of the Pharmacopoea Borussica editio II (1801). In it the author gives many suggestions to reform a future French pharmacopoea. The original article was published in "Annales de Chimie, Tome xxxiii, P. 232ff. .-- (Separate from: Verhandelingen en Waarneemingen t.b.d. Genees- Heel- Verlos- en Scheikunde, Uitgegeven door H.A. Bake, R. de Kruyff, en J. Logger; volume II, 1804; pp. [376]-415). The first page is in facsimile.

Later 19th century half calf (gilt lettering and decoration faded; top or spine slightly damaged; joints, in places rubbed, but a firm binding), marbled endpapers. With 1 engraved plate. ¶ First edition of the first national French pharmacopoeia and at the same time the" first national pharmacopolia of importance..."(LaWall p. 483). An official copy with the stamp of the Faculté de la Médecine and the signature of the dean of the Faculté. The last 4 pages and the plate are a trade catalogue of the Firm Aloque of Paris, suppliers of pots, vases, porcelaine etc. for the pharmaceutical and chemical industry.-- (pp 403-405 with a small tear in the inner marging, not affecting the text; pp. ccxix-ccxxii bound between p. 8-9). A very acceptable copy of this rare work.

Berlin,: R. De Decker,, 1882.. xiv, 354pp. 8vo (17,5 x 23,5 cm.). Contemporary half calf, spine with 5 raised bands, gilt lettered (rubbed and worn; corners bumped and damaged). ¶ Second revised edition of the First national German pharmacopoeia, the last to be published in Latin. A German translation was published simultaneously. --(End-papers, preliminaries and last 3 pages foxed).

Hardervici (Harderwijk),: Johannes Wigmans,, (1750).. [20], 696, [192] pp. Royal 8vo (13,5 x 20,5 cm.). Contemporary marbled calf, spine with raisen bands, gilt lettered (top & bottom rubbed with some slight loss of leather; some scattered rubbing at spine; hinges parly worn), marbled edges. Title printed in red and black. With a fine engraved title vignet by S. Fokke. ¶ The very rare first edition. Later editions Amsterdam 1755 & 1760. --(Lower corner of title-page neatly repaired; a split in the bookblock between page 416-417; text partly slightly browned, but a very acceptable copy of this rare item). Copy with the bookplate of Dr. R. Rickaert. Not in Volckringer.

Nicely bound in contemporary full marbled calf; spine with 5 raised bands, in compartments gilt decorated with dotted lines and floral motives, gilt lettered on brown morocco label;, gilt rectangle border on sides, decorative gilt border at the inner sides, fine marbled end-papers, gilt edges. ¶ Rare. A very nice and clean copy with ample margins and printed on thick paper. With the bookplate of Tousel son, "Docteur en médecine à Arrras". The author "have inserted the name of physicians only who are either dead, or have quitted practice". Attractive binding!.

Original publisher's cloth (discoloured, slightly stained, corners & top and botttom of spine rubbed). ¶ Very rare. First Englished translation of the first national German pharmacopoeia (Berlin, Decker, 1872). "In view of the already large, and rapidly increasing German population, including many physicians, the work, it is hoped will be acceptable to many pharmacists, who are frequently called upon for medicines by the German names, or by the Latin terms use in Germany" (from the preface). --(Apart from a small clear stain on the title-page, a nice clean inner copy).

Original printed wrappers. ¶ A very usefull study about the development of the French national pharmacopoeia from the first edition in 1818 to the Codex of 1965. Originally published as a thesis, here as "Supplement au no 120 du Bulletin de l'Ordre des Pharmaciens".

The preface comprises i.a. a polemic with Tissot. 361-425 includes i.a.: Memoire sur l'IIlécebra ou Petite Joubarbe, par M. Marquet & Mémoire sur le Putiet, par M. Gerard. Contemporary half morocco (worn; bottom of spine damaged; corners a bit rubbed), spine gilt lettered. ¶ First issue in Dutch of the Editio altera. "The Edition altera of 1871 heralded a new era in which the pharmacopoeia primarily contained quality demands, to be met by raw materials and medicines. Now that the examinations were made heavier going and the training had been improved, the pharmacopoeia did not need to function as a textbook any longer" (A.I. Bierman, "Van artsenijmengkunde naar artsenijbereidkunde", p. 256).--(With the stamp of F.G. Gantzert on title page & p. iv; some scattered light foxing).

Roterrodami,: Joannem Hofhout,, 1709.. [xxiv], 274, [xxx] pp. Small 8vo (10 x 17 cm.). Contemporary full marbled calf, spine with 5 raised bands, in compartments gilt tooled with floral patterns, gilt lettered on red morocco label (corners rubbed; outer edges of the sides partly worn; top of spine slightly damaged). Title printed in red and black. ¶ This 5th. Rotterdam edition is the first to be published at the continent, and is very rare, only two copies in the WorldCat. No copy in a Dutch library nor in the NLM. Fuller's Pharmacopoeia Extemporanea was widely used in the Low Countries. Besides this 5th Rotterdam edition of 1709, we have a 6th edition Amsterdam 1709. A 7th. edition Amsterdam 1717 & 1722, and in Leiden 1734. Edition 8th. Amsterdam 1731. The 10th. (and last) Amsterdam & Lausanne 1761. Fuller pharmacopoeia was first published in London in 1701, the last time it was published in Paris in 1785. --(A few pages slightly browned; some scattered light foxing and or light staining).

Gandavi,: Typis Judoci Begyn,, 1786 (= 1787).. [10], 466, [ii]; [iv], 44, [iv] pp. 4to (20 x 24.5 cm.). Recent half brown morocco, spine with 5 raised bands; marbled boards. ¶ An interesting municipal pharmacopoea, published by order of the Collegium Medici Gandensis under the editorship of the pharmacists J. de Bever, A.D. Goormachtigh, G. van den Haute, and J. de Vos. The popolar names of the Materia Medica also give in Dutch. This was the last of a series of the municipal pharmacopoeasof Gent. The first was published in 1653 as 'Antidotarium Gandavensis", followed by an edition in 1663, and in 1756 as 'Pharmacopoea Gandavensis'. This is the last municipal pharmacopoea published in Belgium, and new was that the names of the Materia Medica are given in both Latin and Dutch. Today very rare.-- (A number of leaves slightly browned and/or partly foxed).
