Publisher's textured stapled red wrappers. Edition limited to 400 copies finished in time for Christmas distribution in 1953, small quarto, pp. 11. Laid in is a sheet entitled "Important Note about lines on pages 7 and 8" with a verso manuscript note: "This caused the delay! [The 1809 visit is for sale] E. W. J." Colophon note states that the copper etchings are by C M & H; all from originals excepting on title page which is from a redrawing of a wood block by Myron King, circa 1830. Engravings on pages 9 and 10 are complete and in actual size; on pages 7 and 11, reduced and shown in part. Errata note on page [12]. Colophon/limitation statement page [13]. The increasingly fragile wrappers are a little weary with age and have a chip missing from top edge at spine (see photo 2 for close-up). Chipping continues onto the title page but with no loss there yet. Bottom page tips are bumped. Ensconced now in a clear protective display sleeve with white card stock backing board.

Edition limited to 500 copies printed by Four Colour Imports, octavo, pp. 104. This number featuring checklist and plates, some color, from the Polly Knipp Hill exhibition: "Marking a Life Through Etching." Near Fine in the publisher's stiff illustrated card stock wrappers.

Publisher's gilt-stamped brown cloth back-strip over tan cloth-covered boards, octavo, pp. xxxiii, 93, [94]. Black and white illustrations throughout. Title page inscription by the author in the year of publication to a deceased Georgia Doctor referred to in his 2013 obituary as a "Revered physician and dedicated Athenian." Book in Very Good condition. Good-only dust jacket sunned on spine and rubbed at spine ends and tips. A couple nicks and short tears with no loss.

Publisher's brown decorated boards, octavo, pp. [i-x], [1]-247 plus printer's colophon. Tissue-guarded frontispiece and 19 other plates by E. Boyd Smith inserted as called for. Previous 1907 Christmas gift inscription on free front end-paper. A POOR copy, with substantial wear to spine ends and board tips. Front and rear hinges are cracked severely with netting exposed. Additionally, there are small abrasions on both paste downs that would seem to indicate removal of some type of book plates. Text and illustrations clean, unmarked, pleasantly free from foxing. See BAL 7142. De Renne III, 963.
