Some pages toned heavily to the shade of brown commonly seen in these publications. Parrish and Willingham, 4390, 4391. Inscribed by author in 1934 to architectural historian Pendleton Hogan, author of the popular study on the University of Virginia: "The Lawn: A Guide to Jefferson's University." Slim octavo, pp. ix, 75. Very good in the publisher's black cloth with bright gilt upper board lettering. Gilt spine lettering faded. Alas, the Poor-condition dust jacket groans under the weight of a cornucopia of faults from its pre-mylar days: nicked, rubbed, chipped, faded, torn. Jacket's salvation has been realized in the form of a new protective sheet of mylar.

Published for the Valentine, the Museum of the Life and History of Richmond. First printing, quarto, pp. xii, 361. Illustrations throughout. Very Good in the publisher's red cloth with spine lettering gilt. Illustrated dust jacket Very Good.

Book was published in January of 1946. This is the Second printing, dated March of that year. Publisher's red cloth with gold spine lettering and a gold upper board bivouac vignette, octavo, pp. xiv, 313, plus index. Generous selection of black and white illustrations. This copy also complete with both the fold-out maps that are often missing: (1) City of Richmond in 1861; and (2) Richmond-Petersburg Theatre of Operations. Book is in GOOD condition with some shelf and handling wear. Old Richmond bookstore ticket near bottom edge of front pastedown. Some off-setting at pastedown gutters. Previous owner, a late Civil War reader in Georgia, was more a scholar than collector and shelved his books a bit haphazardly, so a keen eye might detect a slight shelf lean to this particular volume. Dust jacket is FAIR only with loss of paper at spine ends and flap tip fold points. Random rubs and nicks, as well. Jacket now protected by a removable sheet of Brodart.

Publisher's gilt-lettered black cloth over mustard-colored boards, small quarto (9 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches), pp. xviii, 429. Black and white illustrations. Two maps. Top edge of front board is rubbed through near tip (see image for our best attempt at a close-up), else Very Good. Dust jacket Very Good and preserved in a removable sheet of archival mylar.

Publisher's original stapled wrappers, octavo, pp. 32. Illustrations. Bottom page tips shelf-bumped, but protected now in a clear display sleeve with white card-stock backing board. Williamsburg Craft Series.

Revised 1977 edition, octavo, pp. viii, 43. Illustrations. This copy complete with the uncommon fold out map (Geology and Structure of Luray Caverns System, Page County, Virginia) in rear pocket. The whole VERY GOOD in the publisher's textured stapled gray wrappers.

Publisher's original stapled wrappers, octavo, paginated serially [321]-352. Good condition with a bit of shelf/handling wear. Protected now in a clear display sleeve with white card-stock backing board.

Publisher's original limp brown wrappers, quarto, pp. 76 + [3]. Black and white illustrations. Designed, printed, and bound by Stone Printing and Manufacturing Company of Roanoke and inscribed on free front endpaper to previous owner by Edward L. Stone, Company president. Yapp wrapper edges with the usual nicks and short creases here and there along perimeter. Several spots of discoloration on rear wrapper.

Confederate-gray string-tied wraps with a flock-like texture, pp. [15]. Light wear, as with age and careful handling, but a fragile memorial volume to begin with. Illustrated with a photo frontis of the deceased, several memorial-themed woodcuts, and tipped-in photos of her Chilhowie birthplace and later home in Tazewell. Virginia Holmes Greever was a DAR Regent from 1924-1927 and a "loyal member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. . . . [S]he exemplified that self-same spartan spirit for the cause of the Confederacy which bestirred her honorable father, the late Captain James S. Greever, 48th Virginia Regiment, to take up arms in defense of it." OCLC locates one copy only, University of Virginia, as of April 2019.

Price-clipped dust jacket Good-only with some sunning on the spine and a long vertical front panel scratch or production-fault crease akin to a thin pleat. Jacket ensconced now in a new sheet of archival Brodart.

Publisher's red card stock wrappers with black spine and upper panel lettering, octavo, pp. 64. Frontis illustration of George Wythe (a Virginia signer of the Declaration of Independence). Shelf and handling wear and random abrasions on the wrappers. Some foxing, and a faint old price shadow on the free front end-paper. Slight dye run from rear wrapper at lower fore-edges only of final two leaves (none internally in margins or text). About GOOD condition, withal. Essays reprinted from William and Mary Quarterly, Third Series, Volume XII, Number 4, October, 1955.

Reprinted from the edition of 1954, octavo, pp. viii, 102 plus Index to Brides. Just the lightest shelf wear but easily very good in the publisher's beige cardstock wraps.

Wraps, octavo, pp. 23. Frontis photo of Secretary of State Rusk & other dignitaries on May 28, 1966, the date of Rusk's address. One other photo. Light rubbings to spine ends, and spine is toned, but in all, about very good in the publisher's stapled gilt-stamped blue wrappers.
