Oregon: University of Oregon Books, 1959. Hardcover. Good +/good. Red cloth hardcover with gilt spine lettering, in dustjacket. A good copy - clean and tight, but with minor bending at the upper corners and spine tips. Unclipped jacket is not as good with scuffing to the panels visible as white against the dark green paper, some chips and bending at the panel edges, and an indiction that the book was stored next to some spiral bound materials that have dug into the dustjacket at the joints leaving small punctures to the paper which have minimally ground through to the book joints . 226 pp., indexed, with one fold-out map toward the front of the book. Volume two in the Univeristy of Oregon Monographs series, Studies in History.

Virginia: Published by the author, 1982. First edition. Hardcover. Good +. Gray cloth hardcover with gilt spine titles, lacking dustjacket. A good plus copy with crimping at the spine tips and clean and straight boards. Binding and hinges are solid, gently used. Would be a very good copy other than sporadic markings and writing in pencil - not pervasive, but occasional. 267 pp., indexed, bibliography.

New York: Jonathan Cape & Harrison Smith, 1931. First edition. Hardcover. Fair. Hardcover, 1st edition, in fair to good condition, lacking dustjacket. Heavy wear to the corners and spine tips with some loss of the cloth. Spine sunned and titles faded. Rear hinge is damaged, with the webbing showing through the paper. The front hinge is weak, but intact. Photo of Evans is pasted to the front endpaper, perhaps a piece of the dustjacket, and a previous owner's bookplate is on the facing endpage. A small snip of paper with the US Naval Institute insignia is laid in at front. Foxing to the title page, but not throughout the book. A complete, readable copy, but with structural flaws and much wear. 495 pp., indexed, 10 black & white plates.

Michigan: The Cumming Press, 1976. Limited ed. Hardcover. Near Fine. Green cloth hardcover with gilt titles and cover illustration, limited to 487 copies. This copy apparently bound upside down with cover markings pointing the opposite direction from the text. A near fine copy with minor bending at the spine tips. Clean and tight as if unread. 98 pp., limitation page at rear. A collection of Delavan's letters back to the Michigan Expositor detailing his experiences in California during the gold rush.

Ohio: Morningside House, Inc., 1991. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/good. Brown cloth hardcover with gilt spine titles in dustjacket, first edition. A very good copy, clean, square and tight. Two bookplates on the front endpapers, otherwise an unmarked copy. The dustjacket is clean and unclipped but with a couple of short tears to the top of the spine panel and light crinkling at the top of the front flap. 347 pp., indexed, some black and white photos. The story of the Second Wisconsin Infantry in their first campaign of the Civil War.

Washington: Ye Galleon Press, 1992. Hardcover. Very Good. Green hardcover - leatherette with bright gilt titles and cover illustration (Galleon). A very good copy - clean, tight, and square. One page miscut and corner folded so it doesn't stick out past the edges. Some browning to the pastedowns, presumably from the glue used in printing. 72 pp., indexed. A Ye Galleon facsimile from reports from white settlers on the Oregon Trail. In the words of Schlicke, "The natives never actually welcomed the white Americans who came to settle the west."

Indiana: Authorhouse, 2006. First edition. Paperback. Good. Tan softcover, signed and inscribed by the author on the first blank, "Thank you for your interest in our history. Enjoy! Jean M Ballinger 8/3/07." Bending to corners and wear to the top edge of the front cover. Binding tight and text clean. A good copy with original sales receipt also signed by the author laid in at front. 96 pp., black and white photos throughout. An interesting history in letters of one young man's experiences in the American Civil War.

Washington: Ye Galleon Press, 1969. Limited ed. Hardcover. Good. Blue cloth hardcover with gilt titles, lacking dustjacket. Edition limited to 504 numbered copies with this one being number 289. A good copy with minor bumping at the board corners and some darkening to the spine. Previous owner's gift inscription across the half-title appears to be the only marking. Binding is solid but lacking tightness. Mapped endpapers, oddly of Washington state. 147 pp., Ye Galleon famously created facsimiles of high value titles in the 60s and 70s.

Pennsylvania: The National Historical Society, 1994. Reprint. Hardcover. Near Fine. Blue cloth hardcover, the 1994 reproduction of the 1910 edition, lacking dustjacket. A near fine copy - with owner's name and date neatly to the top of the front endpaper being the only marking. Clean, straight and bright - 542 pp., reissued as part of the "West as it was" series by the Pennsylvania National Historical Society.

Gray hardcover 1st edition in dustjacket. Gilt titles and some black and white photographs. A near fine copy with minor bumping to the lower board corners. Clean, tight, and unmarked other than the editor's signature. The dustjacket is very good - bright, crisp and clean, but with a 2 inch tear at the rear fold bind the only damage. 232 pp., indexed. "The story of the rise of Ellsworth and the emergence of the 'Zouave craze' created by the 1860 tour of the Chicago United States Zouave Cadets."

California: TracPress, 1996. First edition. Paperback. Good. Trade paperback, signed, "All the best! Miriam Doody 1996" on the title page with no personalization. A good copy with wear at the edges and bending at the corners. A few rises in the laminant of the front cover. Text is clean and unmarked but for a previous owner's name on the half title page. 285 pp., some black and white photos. Letters of a union soldier in the civil war, giving an interesting look at life and the hardships endured.
