West Germany: Oberkochen/Wurtt, 1973. Paperback. Good. Text in English and German. Thin oblong paperback, just shy of folio size. 1973, presumed first edition with no additional printings listed. A fair to good copy - with heavy wear at the edges - a large floppy publication so it has taken a bit of a beating around the edges including chips, minor bending, and corner bumps. Light soiling to the white rear cover, and scuffing to the black front cover (with a brilliant photo of a crater gracing the cover). Interior is full of full page color and black and white plates of Zeiss' space photography. 78 pp., with photos from Zeiss, for NASA and descriptive text alternating in German and English. A unique and amazing book in a truly awkward binding and format. Scarce in any condition.

New York: St. Martin's Press, 1999. Fifth Printing. Hardcover. Good/good. Signed and inscribed by astronaut Eugene Cernan on the title page, "To Jeff & Lisa - From the Man on the Moon! Gene Cerner." Black hardcover, 5th printing, in dustjacket. A good copy but with a bump to the head of the spine toward the front cover, and general more moderate wear to the board edges and corners. The interior is clean and unmarked in a solid binding. Unclipped jacket is good as well, with bumping at the tips of the spine panels and general scuffing to the glossy black panels. 356 pp., indexed, black and white photo section. Cernan was active in the space program's Gemini and Apollo projects and left the final set of footprints on the moon - Apollo 17.

New York: Dutton, 2006. First edition. Hardcover. Good/fair. Signed and inscribed on the title page by the author, "For Roy & Delta - Enjoy the views! Mars Rocks! - Jim." Red hardcover, 1st edition in dustjacket. A good only copy in a fair to good dustjacket. Bumping to the corners and spine tips and a minor upward curve to the boards. Interior is much better, hinges and binding are solid, and the book is unmarked other than the author's inscription. The dustjacket is heavily worn and scuffed, most extensively at the rear panel. Wear to the spine tips and folds, with a 2 inch tear at the lower corner of the front fold, and a shorter tear at the rear fold, cover image still bright and attractive. 196 pp., indexed, a beautiful book of images from Mars, including 4 gatefold panoramic sections - clean and intact.

Moscow: Nauka / Наука, 1979. First edition. Hardcover. Good. Tan flexi-bound hardcover first edition. Text in Russian. A good only copy of this scarce publication from the USSR on lunar soil samples. Minor musty smell. Corners heavily bumped and soil to the front cover and the text block edges. Flexible binding is solid and pages are firmly bound in. Interior appears to be unmarked. Bumping to the lower corners of the pages. One miscut page is creased toward the final gathering of the book. Filled with charts, graphs and some black and white photos. 708 pp., title page in English and Russian, but the text is solely in Russian. Hard to find in any condition.

A very good copy with minor scuffing to the covers and light edge-wear ot the boards. Half-title is uncut from front free-endpaper. The interior is clean and unmarked in a solid binding, lacking tightness. 220 pp., indexed, extensive notes and bibliography. Volume 3 in the Science and Culture in the Nineteenth Century Series.
