Anyway it has brought me a nice letter & news from you & that's important" Beaton goes on to talk about the countryside, Cornwall, mentions Scotland, Cumberland & that he's leaving for Germany & then Turkey. Outside of the cousins Truman lived with as a child, Lucille Faulk Ingram & her daughter Cecilia were his closest kin. As a fledgling writer looking for solitude, it was in the comfort of Lucille Ingram's home that Truman began to write his first novel, Other Voices, Other Rooms and so it began.

Elegantly wood Framed & Glazed with carefully coordinated quad matting. A curious relatively early letter about housekeeping at his villa & studio - a private matter - boldly signed. A very handsome presentation. Matisse was a French artist, known for his use of colour & his fluid, brilliant & original draughtsmanship. As a printmaker, & sculptor, but principally as a painter, Matisse is one of the best-known artists of the 20th century. Although he was initially labeled as a Fauve (wild beast), by the 1920s, he was increasingly hailed as an upholder of the classical tradition in French painting.[1] His mastery of the expressive language of colour & drawing, displayed in a body of work spanning over a half-century, won him recognition as a leading figure in modern art.

He stays in Montpellier because he's in need of warmth and "serious" doctors. Dufy is sending his wife with 40 watercolors of a group which he qualifies as "beautiful & new". Dufy thinks the average price of 1000 francs each is reasonable. A fine letter with trade content. Quite uncommon.
