Madras, India: F. Dunsterville, 1890. Elias Frederick Evans Dunsterville (probably 1847-1908) exhibited for the Royal Photographic Society in 1896, and became a fellow in 1898. He worked for the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railways in India from 1878 until 1902. During that time he travelled extensively throughout India, taking many superb photographs. Provenance: from the collection of Robert N. Dennis, who was one of the most important stereoview collectors in the United States. The New York Public Library's "Robert N. Dennis Collection" includes more than 70,000 stereoviews from his collection, many of which can be viewed on the library's website. Please note that my scanner does not do well with glass stereoviews. All of the glass views I have listed have superb images; when observed through a stereoscope the stereoview has an excellent 3-dimensional effect.. Early Printing. Glass. Schoenbrun, the famed CBS correspondent, was a student of Vietnam history from his meeting with Ho Chi Minh in Paris in 1946 to his meeting with Vietnam leaders in Hanoi in 1967. In 1968 as a faculty member at Columbia University, he taught the first year-long course in Vietnamese history to be taught at any American University. The book is SIGNED, without inscription, and dated 5/15/68 by Schoenbrun on the half-title page. The book is generally clean and tight, with some wear at edges of cover; minor tanning on back cover.. Washington D. C.: Congress of the United States, 1856. Images is 6 1/4" by 9 1/4" on a sheet that measures 9" by 11 1/4". Now archivally matted (14" by 16") and ready for framing; Original lithograph by the German-American artist Wilhelm Heine (1827-1885). It was published in 1856 to accompany the narrative of the Perry Expedition to Japan. This particular view shows American boats mapping the harbor after being expressly denied permission to do so by the Japanese government. The lithograph is in near fine condition.. First Edition.
