Collection of photos of war correspondent, journalist and GI pal, Ernie Pyle. 1st Ed., 1st ptg. 159 pp. Gray green cloth boards with dark red embossed title on front and spine. Boards have slight discoloration where the jacket has pieces missing. Some corner and spine end bumping with a little fraying where worn. Very bottom edges have some spotting and wear to cloth. Pages are yellowed - interior is clean. Dust jacket is intact in protective covering, but has two significant missing pieces - (1)lower spine has 1 1/2" X 3" piece missing and (2) Top of spine has missing piece from about one inch on front, across spine and onto the back about four inches. Total missing area there is 5 1/2" X 3". Rest of dust jacket has creasing, some spotting, chipping and corner wear.

London: The Folio Society, 1983. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Slip Case. 8 1/2 X 11. Lovely book published by a British press about the American Revolution. Over 40 illustrations. Compiled, edited and with an introduction by Esmond Wright. Tight and crisp copy with red boards, blue and silver design on front and blue and silver print on spine. All bright as new. Pictorial slip case has some edgewear on back but still very pretty and very good.

Dust jacket has significant fading on spine, the print hardly discernible. Rubbing on orange and black front cover with corner and spine end chipping - about 1/4" chipping loss on top of spine and a 1/2"X1/4" chip from bottom of spine. 1" closed tear on bottom edge of front. White background of back cover shows rubbing and soiling. Someone wrote in ink a small "6E" at the bottom edge. Jacket in protective cover.

Front pasted down paper and front free end paper have pink stain in gutter along lower portion which affects forst 50+ pages and bottom edge. Page 67 has another small pink spot which shows on p. 68. None of the stains affect the text block. Dust jacket is bright with minor wear and rubbing on spine area and on light background of rear jacket.

Los Angeles Times clipping, article about the tourist drive of '49 (1849, that is) in back of book. End papers have darkened, as have edges of deckled pages. Very nice book with a little of its own history.

Dust jacket has light wear and creasing along edges. Light rubbing and above referenced stain on the inside which does not show through.

Book Has Presbyterian Home Library stamped on front and rear end papers with clean text block. Rear hinge is beginning to loosen, and black cloth boards show light rubbing. Spine shows where library label was removed, and spine ends show wear. Bottom of spine is frayed, extending to hinge. Corners have light fraying and other edges have some wear. No dust jacket.
