Legends of My Bungalow - First Edition, 1882.

Chapman and Hall, Limited, London, 1882. Ornate binding of 3/4 polished light brown calf over tan cloth bds, banded spine with 6 compartments, title label in black and gilt, gilt tooled florette design on other 5 compartments. Additional edge tooling along leather, marbled end papers (bookplate of Charles Arthur Wynne Finch on inside, verso, of front cover - family crest dated 1878) and matching page edges. All-in-all a very nice and supple binding, quite attractive on the shelf. Actual photo frontispiece pasted in, dated 1882 on title (odd 2 identical title pages, one on thicker paper facing the photo) page. A very scarce title by this quite prolific man during the Victorian era in England. Given his reputation he likely knew the publishers and had just a few of these printed and bound-up for gifts to friends. Corrections present at end of vol. II. Publishers catalogs present on rear cover of both volumes. Covers loose or disbound, spine paper mostly present however heavily chipped at head and foot, titles 95% present. Many photos available. Inquiries welcome. Corners, edges, ends, exterior is worn however the contents appear fresh and barely looked over with very little of the usual foxing generally associated with this age a set.
