An account in Italian of the Second German North polar Expedition (1869-1870) and it's second ship: schooner-brig "Hansa" - a coal tender under Captain Hegemann. Leaving Bremerhaven with the main ship "Germania", in 1869, the general task was exploration of the region north of 74o at the eastern coast of Greenland. The ships are separated forever in foggy weather on July 20. In September 1869 the "Hansa" is locked in the pack-ice at 73o 25,7' N - drifting south. By October the ship is heavily damaged by the ice-pressure, and sinks 10 km off the east coast of Greenland at 70o 52'N 21o W.
