Honolulu: Reprinted from the London edition by H.M. Whitney, 1866. First Hawaiian edition. 8vo, 77 pp. Original printed boards, leather spine and corners. Forbes's Hawaiian National Bibliography describes at length the content of this contribution to the Anglican Mission controversy. This Hawaiian edition adds an appendix containing a review of the work which was not included in the London edition of the same year. Covers show some little wear and a light water stain, typical light browning to text, but a very good copy. Ownership signature of the Hawaiian savant William Douglas Alexander. Forbes 2683.

Ralston, William. Titled on the verso. Original four-panel drawing, in pen and ink, and blue wash. Signed with monogram, 13 in. x 5 in. Fine condition. William Ralston (1848-1911) was born in Dumbarton, and probably studied under his younger brother after abandoning a career as a photographer. He contributed drawings to Punch from 1870 to 1886, specializing in genre and military subjects, also to the Illustrated London News, The Graphic, and Cornhill Magazine, along with designing many publishers' cloth bindings.
