London: Marshall Brothers; (no date). Hardcover. Good to very good- in original red cloth with black lettering on spine and black lettering and illustration of a Hindu young woman on the front board. Probably publishe around 1900 or a little earlier. The cloth is a little worn and soiled, with some loss at spine ends and a small hole in the middle of the spine. Owner name on front endpaper/half title page (possibly front endpaper is missing). Front hinge slightly cracked. "This is the story of a Hindu girl of high degree, telling of her life's struggles as a maiden, wife and widow." The author's last name is given as "Harband" on the front board, but given as "Harland" on the title page.

Rear hinge cracked, presentation bookplate to public library on front pastedown (but no library markings in the book). Front hinge slightly separated after half title page. Small red stain at top corner of first 40 pages, and two red lines near top corner of front cover. Interior is tight, with all illustrations present, including tipped in frontispiece with tissue guard. Introduction by Colonel Younghusband, 484 pages plus one page ad for Kipling's Kim.
