A supplement (not present here) was published in 1887. Covers somewhat rubbed and scraped, library stamp on front pastedown endpaper, pp 759-760 slightly pulled from textblock and a little proud, waterstaining to upper margins around head of spine and another small waterstain also to last 50 pp.

From the introduction: "..[the first edition of this] book contained an abnormal number of misprints; these have now been corrected, and indeed the text has been revised and completed throughout, and brought up to date, the whole better arranged and indexed. It should be emphasised that this is not a bibliography of writings on printing, but only of bibliographies dealing specifically with the period to 1600/1640 - not that it is always easy to distinguish between, say, a general monograph on a printer and a descriptive list of his productions. Taylor, Book Catalogues, (2nd edition , revised, 1987) describes this 1729 edition as "what might be called a variorum edition" noting that the publisher did not find space for all the amendments proposed from the previous edition of 1710. Contemporary manuscript spine-title. Vellum singed at lower fore-edge corner of front board with related discolouration over a triangle 9 cm x 3 cm, and covers generally rather darkened and soiled. Front free endpaper torn with edgeloss of up to 2 cm along fore-edge, and title-page and next few pages neatly repaired for slight edgeloss at fore-edges. Some staining to margins of first few leaves, contents otherwise quite clean.
