A reprint of two catalogues of early children's books offered by the firm Erasmus Haus of Basel, which by virtue of their often extensive collations and annotations have become a standard reference work in the field. The first catalogue (636) was issued in 1954 and describes 2,112 children's books; the second (818) was issued in 1983 and includes an additional 2,262 books. Introduction by Adolf Seebass and Index to each catalogue. As new.

The separate catalogue for the Beatrix Potter lots (numbers 174-196) in the Sotheby's London "Fine Printed, Illustrated and Children's Books and Drawings and General Books" sale of 18th-19th November, 1999. The expected "star" lot, which failed to sell on the day, was the autograph manuscript of "The Story of a Fierce Bad Rabbit", which had been in the hands of the Warne family - Beatrix Potter's publishers and the family of her deceased fiance - for 93 years. It comprised 15 watercolour illustrations alternating with text.
