From a contemporary review: "This bibliography, the first edition of which was published in 1936, lists 161 items divided into two sections. In the first section, comprising primary material chosen for its 'importance, interest or rarity', title-pages are transcribed in detail, and full collations and bibliographical identifications are supplied. The second section, in which the bibliographical description is more summary, contains 'a highly selective list of less important or more modern books and pamphlets', and forms a Cook allusion book of special interest since the bibliography of a man of action necessarily includes more written about him than by him.
