Philadelphia, PA: Dorrance, 1922. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, inscribed and signed by the publisher's wife on the front end page: "To Mr. Haverstick With Complements - Mrs. G. Dorrance". Exterior shows some spotting and soiling, spine shows some creasing to the cloth. Edges and corners are slightly bumped. Internal binding is good though the front hinge looks a bit sloppy and may have been repaired in the past. The front pastedown also contains the name and address of a previous owner. No other handwriting found in the book, no bookplates, no library markings. Pages are yellowed due to age and type of paper used and foxing/spotting is scattered throughout, with the end pages and pastedowns being rather heavy.

London: The Nonesuch Press, 1963. Hardcover. Very Good/Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. John Tenniel. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, yellow cloth boards that still has the original clear plastic dust jacket present, though it is in poor shape. DJ has numerous large tears and chips and the front of the jacket shows old tape repairs. The upper price is clipped on the front flap but the lower price of 30s net is still present. Cloth boards underneath show only minor soiling on boards though the spine is showing numerous foxing areas. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings, no handwriting found. Pages are toned due to age but are, for the most part clean, with the exception of just a couple fingerprint smudges.

Leipzig: Insel-Verlag, 1917. Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, exterior boards show toning and wear, spine is yellowed and much of the gilt on the front text is no longer present as well as the decorations. Edges and corners show bumps/wear. The main reason for the low condition grade of "fair" is because the front blank end page(s) is missing, so the first page when you open the book is the title page. Both the front and rear pastedowns, along with the rear end page has a faint staining along the top outside area, none of the text pages are affected by this. Chicago, IL: A. C. McClurg & Co., 1917. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Will Vreeland. Hardcover with original dust jacket. First edition thus with a single publication date of January, 1917 listed on the copyright page. Pebbled green cloth boards showing Celtic design and gilt lettering on front and spine. Boards are clean and bright. Decorated end pages showing chalk drawing of Stonehenge. No owners bookplates or signatures noted, no handwriting in book. Rear pastedown has a very small original bookseller's label and lower corner. Pages are clean and binding is tight though some random minor spotting is noted. It is doubtful if his book was never even read as there are multiple sections of the pages which are uncut, making it impossible to read. Dark yellow boards with brown text on front and spine. First US edition thus (first published in London in 1930 through Hodder). Spine shows fading and boards show light soiling due to handling. No signatures or bookplates noted. End pages toned. Hinge is pulling just a tad at the title page, bottom section. Page 115 has a corner crease on the bottom right and page edge is uneven in this area. It appears page was not fully cut so it was separated by the previous owner. The top edge darkened due to dust.

This is the first US edition published in New York after the London edition of 1928 by the same press. DJ is in poor shape with several chunks missing. Decades ago someone tried to save the jacket by neatly reinforcing the edges and front flap hinge with masking tape. They then treated the sticky side of the tape which was exposed with something to make it stiff. Over the decades the tape is become dry and brittle. Book is clean and pages bright, no handwriting or bookplates. Unpaginated. Dust jacket is toned with edge wear, bumps, and a few small tears. Book graded as near fine with a VG- dust jacket. The original price is clipped off the front flap and there is a gold sticker price of $4.95 next to it. Dust jacket shows scuffing and spotting. There is some ripple to the top of the jacket on the front and the two dark areas around the spine are caused by the underside of the jacket being neatly reinforced with masking tape. First edition thus (1915), originally published as a serial in the Saturday Evening Post Magazine in 1914. Copyright page states 1914, 1915 because of this reason. Illustrated front board on dark blue cloth, gilt to spine. Illustrated end pages front and rear. No handwriting or bookplates noted. Minor dampstain (about 1/4 inch down from top edge) on half title page, minor dampstain also on lower fore edge near outer corner. Binding good, no torn or loose pages, no hinge cracks. Bottom of front board has a horizontal crease in the cloth running through the cloth - which is about an inch up from the bottom and goes the spine side to turn-in. Foxing noted, mainly on end pages. An attractive looking book otherwise. See photos.

Boards are clean and bright. Dust jacket has tears and was repaired on the underside with masking tape which is dry and brittle. But binding is very crisp and tight, so much so that we don't think this book was even read. See photos.

Exterior boards show edge and corner bumping and chipping. Brown stain on front board, just below the title. Book condition graded as very good minus. See photos.

Exterior shows toning and soiling and handling wear, edges and corners show some bumping and red label on spine has chips. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. The end pages and pastedowns shows and toning and smudge marks but text pages appear clean.

Orange and white boards underneath are clean with only the slightest hint of toning along the edges. The internal binding is good in text pages are tight like the book was never read. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting. There is a sideways "H" stamped in the lower right corner of the front end page. This may possibly be some sort of remainder mark. Nor the markings found. The copyright page states first edition with the numbers 2 through 9 printed above it.

No handwriting or bookplates noted. Overall DJ condition VG but we downgraded it because of small tape repair.

Baltimore, MD: Hand written by the author., 1978. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original handwritten book by Anthony "Tony" DeSales, dedicated to David Morrow. This unique edition contains 122 pages, each page handwritten and corrected by the author with pages showing the went through several pens before completing it. After the last text page the author inscribed: "Now, write your own book. Tony". Remaining pages being blank after the inscription. Pages are also hand numbered and the homemade title page shows the author signature. This book came from near Baltimore, Maryland, where there was a local artist with the same name. It is unknown this is the same person but the handwriting appears similar to some of his postcards.
