Description:
From page 1, "For RAF Lyneham, the RAF's Hercules base OPERATION GRANBY started on the night of the 8 August 1990, when aircraft, crews, support personnel and equipment where positioned at RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus to establish a slip pattern whilst plans were agreed for the destinations of the men and equipment in the Gulf Area." From the last page: "A political settlement was reached over the future of the Kurds and so the RAF's contribution to Operation Provide Comfort finished on 1 May 1991, and crews returned to the UK. Description:
From the Introduction: "In the forging of the Canadian nation, one of the greatest accomplishments was the securing of a railway from sea to sea. This railway, the Canadian Pacific, was one of the conditions of British Columbia's entry into the Canadian Confederation.""Once the railway was completed, the infrastructure required to support it was enormous. In this book I pay tribute to the station agents, who, often on duty twenty-four hours a day, were responsible for the day-to-day operation of their stations, the nerve centres of their community. Now only a memory, these station agents were a vital force in knitting this country together."

Description:
No date, but a gift inscription sticker on f.e.p. for Molly from her Auntie, Xmas 1938. 72 colour plates for the Spring, Summer and Fall flower fairies books. Green topedges with about 30 pp. that have some bleeding about 1/4" into the tops of the pages, very minor. Corners slightly bumped. A wonderful copy. Accompanying the book is a damaged copy of the original d.j. It is in two pieces and is missing the lower half of the spine and a chunk out of the rear part of the d.j. One of Ms. Barker's flower fairy illustrations is on the front of the d.j and it is different from the other 72 illus. in that there are three flower fairies hiding behind some flowers.

There are games, there is fine music, and there is the promise of a magnificent feast to come. But little does Horace know that when the time comes for the birthday banquet, a most curious mystery will be revealed." What happened to all the food? Busy, wonderfully-detailed pages full of many different animals, mostly in fancy dress. Description:
From the d.j. flap: "Jean Batten is one of the great names in aviation history. She was born in New Zealand in 1909, a few weeks after Louis Bleriot flew the English Channel, and qualified for a flying licence at the London Aero Club in 1930. 'Alone in the Sky" tells the story of Jean Batten's early life and of all her famous flights. The vivid descriptions of these flights, made nearly 50 years ago, highlight the hardships and dangers faced by the early aviators. Quite alone she flew immense distances in record times and in the most basic of aeroplanes. Not only did her flights create time records, but they also blazed the trail for the modern airline routes. The book is based on her earlier work "My Life" 1938, but it has been thoroughly revised and lengthened by the author without losing its period feel. Now, to a new generation of readers, used to sophisticated jet travel, her achievements will seem incredible. This is a gripping story of skill and courage written by one of the last great pioneer flyers."

Description:
From the d.j. flap: "The coastline of British Columbia is tortuous, rugged and at some seasons of the year, forbidding. For many who lived there the dominant feature of the Coast, both geographically and spiritually, was isolation. Into this context, over the years, the Lord has brought chosen workers to serve Him in response to his Great Commission. Among them have been the people of the Pacific Coast Children's Mission, who have taken the Good News espcially to the scattered and often isolated children and their families. This is an inspiring story of how God interwove their lives as intricately as the coastline he put them into, to be for Him A Candle on the Coast."Author Alf Bayne has SIGNED the title page withour any inscription.
