This copy is unnumbered. Red embossed lettering to the front board and spine of the book. Illustrated with 8 full page copies of prints and paintings in the Publishers collection, including a frontispiece. A couple of light stains to the rear board for an area of 5 cm x 2 cm in size. A tear of 2 cm from the edge of the front end paper with no loss. Slight foxing to the fore edges. Light foxing to the end papers, half title page and the last few pages of the book. Otherwise the book is clean and tight - in very good condition.

William Wyllie frontispiece plate (volume 1) of St. Paul's and the river. Both volumes profusely illustrated from old prints, photographs and drawings. Several cloth corners a little bumped (not heavy) and some rubbing to peripheries - again not heavy. 1.3cm split in cloth of spine edge (volume 2) from tail. Some rubbing - head and tail of spine (volume 2) - still very presentable. Some foxing - most especially to reverse of frontispiece plate (volume1). Tissue guard of frontis piece plate with significant additional creasing. A . 216pp. Illustrated with numerous b/w photographic plates and contains numerous line drawings. Gilt embossed lettering to the spine. Slight shelf lean. Slight foxing to the upper fore edges. Clean and tight. Pictorial dust wrapper not price clipped. A few short tears from the edges of the wrapper for no more than 1 cm in length with a little associated creasing. Several nicks to the wrapper at the tail of the spine, otherwise almost entirely complete. A very good copy of this first edition.

Gilt embossed design to the spine. Contains 35 engavings including a frontispiece. The edges of the spine are lightly rubbed as are the 5 bands on the spine. Toning to the periphery of the end papers. There is splitting to the inner hinge of the book between page vi and the contents page but the board remains firmly atttached and the textblock firm and tight. Odd slight soil mark to a few pages - however, overall the book is clean and tight. A very good copy of this antiquarian book.

A very scarce limited edition facsimile reprint of the 1812 first edition copy held at the University of Glasgow Library. This limited edition being number 51 of 400 printed with ink number to the reverse of the title page. Leather title block and publishers name block to the spine and leather title block to the front board - all with gilt embossed lettering to the spine. The cloth of the spine is significantly faded with slight associated mottling, though the title blocks remain in very good condition. Internally extremely clean and tight. Comes in original slipcase which has a bump to one corner and light bumps to other corners. There is also some light staining to the tail of the slipcase and somewhat rubbed with some light scattered soiling. Remains firm and tight. A very good copy.
