Scarce first edition of an anonymously compiled legal vade mecum for farmers and country gentlemen, with particular attention given to game laws, tithes, highways and turnpike roads, fishing, fish ponds and rivers, the manufacture of and duty on malt, and laws relating to the manufacture and retail of cyder, mum, perry, and hops. The work further gives details of "all the acts of parliament, and adjudged cases thereupon, relating to cattle, corn, hay, straw, timber and other trees, butter and cheese, and every other article in which the farmer or country gentleman is materially interested." Leiden, c1707. A fine view of the twelfth century Bolsover Castle, situated near Chesterfield in Derbyshire. The castle was originally built for the Peverel family however, the Earls of Derby claimed all Peverel lands when they fled England into exile. During the English Civil War (1642-51) the castle was taken by the Parliamentarians, and was 'slighted' and left in a ruinous state. Over the following 50 years he produced a huge amount of Atlases and Ilustrated books. Les Delice de la Grand Bretagne, with text by his fellow Dutchman, James Beeverell, was published in eight volumes, containing nearly 250 plates and maps of towns, churches, colleges, abbeys and antiquities of Great Britain.
